About Department 471 \- Commissioned Ships Propulsion Plant Mechanical Engineering D471 supports commissioned submarines and training units in the Navy. We provide technical support to LOS ANGELES, SEAWOLF, OHIO, VIRGINIA Class submarines, Moored Training Ships, and the S8G Prototype. D471 is a part of the following programs within the Life Cycle Support (LCS) Directorate: Reactor Plant Planning Yard (RPPY), Moored Training Ship Support Yard (MTSSY), and S8G Prototype Design Agent (S8G PDA). D471 Reactor Plant Planning Yard (RPPY) Structural Engineering supports mission readiness of LOS ANGELES, OHIO, SEAWOLF, and VIRGINIA Class commissioned submarines by providing engineering technical support for modernization and maintenance of the reactor plant.
