**Nature of Work** ------------------ **\*\*Disclaimer\-this position will be considered classified\-exempt and “at will.”** The Transportation Engineer Specialist will report to the Operations Division of the Department of Transportation but work throughout the state of West Virginia. The incumbent in this position will serve as the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspection Section Head. This position will perform engineering work in the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of highways and their attendant facilities and structures. Work is performed within a defined framework of policy, but the incumbent independently makes engineering decisions within that framework and may make or assist in making broad decisions in setting objectives and goals. The Operations Division desires the incumbent to have 8 years of bridge inspection and as defined in 23 CFR, part 650 be qualified as a Nationally certified Tunnel Inspector and Nationally certified Bridge Inspector.
