Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society. **Responsibilities\*** ---------------------- **8D** **Our Patient and Families** 8D is a 20\-bed, Progressive Critical Care unit which provides care for critical and moderate care medical\-surgical patients, as well as those patients who are in transition from ICU to general care and rehabilitation floors. Our patient population requires highly skilled nursing care for the acute and chronic ventilated patient as well as those patients who have difficulties weaning from ventilator support.
