**Job Summary** --------------- Work involves assisting the County Engineer in technical and administrative duties, and designing, planning, overseeing and inspecting various roadway and bridge construction and repair projects. The position may also perform direct supervisory responsibilities for the reviewing and assigning of work of the Engineering Assistants. **Duties and Responsibilities** * Designs, plans, oversees and inspects roadway construction, maintenance and repair projects. * Assists the County Engineer in a technical and administrative capacity as needed. * Coordinates, oversees and inspects utility relocations in conjunction with highway construction projects. * Performs drainage research and calculations. * Performs research regarding drainage and flood information, traffic studies and other related information. * Assists with annual project planning and ensures projects are within budget. * Aids in planning and supervising Shelby County’s annual paving contract.
