**Job Responsibilities** ------------------------ Supervises the encroachment permits review/approval process for commercial and large residential developments within the District. Reviews permits in a timely manner for accuracy, supporting documentation, and compliance with SCDOT engineering standards, policies, and guidelines. Coordinates with county offices and various engineering divisions within SCDOT in review of permits as necessary. Coordinates reviews by, and/or meetings with developers, local officials, district engineers, headquarters staff, etc., on complex encroachment permits to discuss and ensure compliance with state and federal engineering standards and to resolve problems related to permit approval and compliance. Conducts site visits as required for preliminary review and consideration of encroachment permits. Reviews encroachment permits submitted by local governments and public agencies. Serves as the district liaison for the coordination of submittals and plan reviews pertaining to the proposed roadway improvement, design and enhancements.
