As one of the City of Houston’s largest departments, HPW is responsible for the planning, operation, maintenance, construction management, and technical engineering of the city’s essential public infrastructure. With a workforce of approximately 5,000 employees, HPW oversees a broad and complex portfolio of critical services and assets, including water and wastewater systems, roadways, bridges, traffic and mobility systems, stormwater drainage, permitting, solid waste, and other infrastructure and public services.
