The Physical Therapist works directly with individuals to restore or improve physical abilities, promote behavioral changes, adapt surroundings, and/or teach new skills, to achieve optimal physical function and prevent disabilities, in accordance with principles and practices of the profession. The Physical Therapist may provide evaluation and treatment of patients in acute care, nursing home, short\-term rehabilitation and/or outpatient settings. The Physical Therapist oversees services provided by Physical Therapy Assistants and aides. They are required to work as part of a multi\-disciplinary care team. They may assist in quality improvement and new programming initiative development.
