**Position Summary** The position of the Health/Safety Assistant is done for the purpose/s of providing, under general supervision, a variety of health related services to elementary school students including dispensing medications, providing delegated health care tasks for students with chronic health problems, providing authorized first aid to students and providing for the safety and welfare of students during non classroom activities. **Essential Job Functions:** Provides health related services as directed: * Dispenses medications. * Provides authorized first aid to students * Provides delegated health care tasks for students with chronic health problems * Consults with higher level staff as needed when situations arise outside normal scope of responsibility Assures health related services are provided according to instructions, district guidelines, and applicable laws Composes reports and documents for administrators and other school staff regarding student health and safety issues Provides for the safety and welfare of students during non\-classroom activities.
