Overview: Waterfront Structural Engineering has a need for an entry level structural engineer in the discipline of submarine hull, external, or internal structures. The job consists of a work split between troubleshooting construction issues in the shipyard and technically evaluating these conditions via calculations and reports in the Groton office. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop a knowledge base in a wide variety of submarine structures, including: pressure hull, non\-pressure hull, external structures, bulkheads, tanks, component foundations, decking, furniture, and lockers. Support is provided for submarines in construction at the Electric Boat shipyards in Groton and Quonset Point, Newport News shipyard in Virginia, and various vendors across the United States. Engineers work together in a fast\-paced, time sensitive, team environment utilizing their skills in statics, dynamics, strength of materials, material science, and creative problem solving. Clear communication skills are essential as the engineer will have regular interaction with our customers, both externally (NAVSEA) and internally (shipyard trades in Groton, Quonset Point, and Newport News).
