Why does the job exist? The Audit and Compliance Division (ACD) enforces compliance with New Mexico tax laws. ACD employs a variety of tax research tools to analyze tax data to improve efficiency, streamline processes, improve customer service, and to develop new compliance programs and tax collection initiatives. ACD promotes voluntary compliance of registering, filing, and paying taxes by educating taxpayers, promoting managed audits. The purpose of this position is to examine, analyze and interpret tax accounting records for the purpose of determining compliance with federal and state laws, statutes, rulings and regulations, and generally accepted accounting and auditing standards; complete tax audits of corporations, businesses and individuals; prepare and presents audit reports.
