**About the role** We’re looking for a design engineer to support Illinois Tollway roadway and bridge projects during construction. You’ll be the link between the design team and the construction team. You’ll make sure the contractor builds what was designed, and you’ll resolve design questions quickly so they don’t delay the work. **Responsibilities** * Review shop drawings and contractor submittals for compliance with the contract plans and specifications * Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) related to the design * Evaluate contractor value engineering proposals and recommend whether to approve them * Attend construction progress meetings and field meetings and report on design issues * Prepare plan revisions, sketches and design clarifications when field conditions change * Coordinate with roadway, structural, drainage and utility designers to resolve conflicts * Track submittals, RFIs and response times so the design team meets deadlines * Document reviews and responses in the Tollway’s project management system, Trimble Unity Construct (formerly e\-Builder) * Follow Tollway CADD and BIM standards and the consultant quality program for all design changes **Qu...
