Description: **Job Summary:** The Senior Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance team and reports directly to the Director of Finance \& Accounting. This position supports the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the Brattleboro Retreat’s financial reporting and plays an important role in the monthly close, general ledger management, account reconciliations, audit preparation, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate is an experienced accountant who is comfortable working independently, investigating accounting discrepancies, improving processes, and partnering with colleagues throughout the organization. This is a hands\-on position well suited for someone who enjoys both the technical side of accounting and the opportunity to improve how financial information is organized and reported. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES \& RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Prepares and reviews complex journal entries and reconciliations. * Completes internal/external reports, and external surveys on a timely basis (grant reporting, responsibility reports, etc.). * Owns significant portions of the monthly close process. * Reviews selected work prepared by other accounting staff. * Investigates complex discrepanc...
