THIS POSITION REQUIRES FULL\-TIME, ON\-SITE PRESENCE IN SANTA FE. The Financial Capacity Development Bureau helps New Mexico's cities, counties, and special districts build stronger financial operations. The bureau gives local public bodies technical assistance with financial reporting, internal controls, and training for finance staff. It also monitors entities for financial risk, works with them on corrective action plans for audit findings and compliance gaps, and analyzes their requests for emergency funding. Why does the job exist? As a newly established bureau, FCDB needs staff to carry out its mission. Many local public bodies, particularly smaller and rural entities, lack the finance staff and expertise to complete timely audits, budgets, and required reporting. This leads to repeat audit findings and compliance gaps.
