Department Overview: The ED provides a multidisciplinary service for all ages across the life span, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It includes a Level 1 Trauma Center, Observation Unit, Pediatric Emergency Services, and Adult Acute Care. The ED is responsible for assessing patient needs, planning and coordinating interventions and consultations. Procedures and treatments are provided in the ED including but not limited to; moderate and deep sedation, ultrasonography, intubation, cardioversion, D\&C’s , sexual assault exams, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and imminent deliveries. Patient population and diagnosis includes acute stroke, acute STEMI, acute psychosis/psychological emergencies, and sepsis. Patients frequently present with alcohol or drug abuse history, or complex medical histories Function/Duties of Position: The OHSU registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence\-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The RN’s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics and meets the standards/expectations of a Professional Practice Model.
