Overview: The Medical Assistant maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families. Responsibilities: Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients. Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety. Participates as a team member of division/department. Identifies, evaluates and resolves potential safety problems within the designated area. · Has knowledge of infection control, i.e. adequate hand washing. Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students. Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate. Intake process: Height, Weight, BP, Resp. Rate, Pulse, Pain, Medication Review Order Supplies Maintain flow of patient / provider schedule Provide support to nursing staff. Maintain par level of supplies in exam rooms.
