**GENERAL SUMMARY****:** The Specialty Clinic Assistant I is responsible for supporting both the clinical and non\-clinical functions of the Specialty Outpatient Clinic. The Assistant schedules clinic visits and surgical procedures with providers who represent a variety of medical specialties and ensures the appropriate paperwork and authorizations are obtained from insurance providers for such services prior to treatment. The Assistant coordinates patient flow and assists the provider as a Medical Assistant during clinic visits as defined by the Standards and Scope of Practice for the Medical Assistant (RCW 18\.360\.050\). The Assistant works collaboratively with colleagues and departments throughout the organization to provide optimal outcomes for our patients.
